Taylor Avann
Taylor began riding at the age of three, finding an interest in horses as a toddler. Taylor started her riding career on the Welsh pony and Cob circuit, showing line and flat classes. She then moved onto the trillium circuit by the age of seven, starting her competitive career in the pony ring. They steadily pinned at every show, finishing each year in the top ten.
Taylor’s next horse Altavida (Remi) was originally trained to be a Rolex eventing prospect. However, he comfortably found his place on the Trillium show circuit doing Children’s hunter, consistently pinning in the top tens as a three year old and pinning second overall as a four year old. Remi and Taylor moved to the 'A' circuit to challenge themselves by competing at a higher level. They finished the 2011 season in 23rd place in the Children’s Working Hunter division on the National circuit.
Taylor is currently being coached by Ken Denouden, Michael Pegg, and Jacqueline Brooks. Taylor hopes to have a successful show season on the 2012 National circuit again, this time stepping it up a notch to the Junior Working Hunter division. In February 2012, Taylor will be travelling to Wellington to be a groom for a few months before coming home in time for the ‘A’ circuit show season to begin.
In the future Taylor plans to attend McMaster University for Nursing or Radiology, and travel across Germany and Australia. Her future riding goals include continuing in the Combined Working Hunters with Altavida (Remi) while working on a Grand Prix prospect for the following years.
